Anger is one of the quickest ways a man can lose his witness, his influence, and his peace.
It doesn’t take much, one sharp word, one slammed door, one moment where the flesh takes over, and suddenly the damage is done.
But Scripture doesn’t pretend anger isn’t real.
It doesn’t tell men to “just stop feeling it.”
It tells us to control it before it controls us.
“Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.”
— James 1:20 (NLT)
There’s a difference between spiritual anger and sinful anger.
Sinful anger is reactive.
It’s fueled by pride, ego, insecurity, or the need to be right.
It lashes out. It wounds. It destroys.
Spiritual anger is different.
It’s anger at sin, injustice, lies, and the things that break God’s heart.
It doesn’t lash out — it leads you to action, prayer, protection, courage, and truth.
One burns the room down.
The other builds the man up.
Most men don’t need help feeling anger; we need help stewarding it.
“Don’t sin by letting anger control you.”
— Ephesians 4:26 (NLT)
The issue isn’t that you get angry.
It’s what you do with that anger.
You can either hand your anger over to the flesh,
or hand it over to the Holy Spirit.
One makes you dangerous in the wrong way.
The other makes you dangerous in the right way.
A godly man doesn’t suppress anger…
He submits it.
He takes it to God.
He slows his words.
He breathes before he reacts.
He lets the Spirit lead instead of the storm inside him.
“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”
— James 1:19 (NLT)
Anger is real.
But so is the Spirit who can redirect it.
A Challenge for Men
This week, when anger rises, pause.
Invite the Holy Spirit into that moment.
Pray:
“Lord, take my anger and use it for Your righteousness, not my reaction.”
Conquer what’s killing you.
Rise to what matters.
