Field Note: Cling to Christ
Most days don’t feel like a battlefield. They feel ordinary. Work, conversations, decisions, interruptions. But Scripture tells us there’s more going on than what we can see.
“We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies” (Ephesians 6:12 NLT).
That means the tension you feel, the resistance you sense, the weariness that creeps in isn’t random. You are walking through contested ground. Every day. And you don’t walk through it alone.
Following Jesus isn’t about escaping the world. It’s about learning how to live differently inside it. Not retreating. Not hiding. But clinging closely to Christ as He leads you forward.
Jesus didn’t promise comfort. He promised presence.
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27 NLT).
Clinging to Christ isn’t passive. It’s active trust. It’s choosing to stay near His voice when everything else is loud. It’s letting Him set the pace, the direction, and the posture of your life while the battle is still unfolding.
The Kingdom of God isn’t something we wait for after death. It’s something we belong to now. Scripture says we’ve been transferred into it already.
“He has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son” (Colossians 1:13 NLT).
That changes how you walk through the day. You’re not just surviving until heaven. You’re representing a Kingdom in the middle of enemy territory.
Your integrity, your patience, your mercy, your courage, your restraint, your faithfulness all become visible signs of who reigns over you.
Clinging to Christ means you don’t fight like the world fights. You don’t grasp for control. You don’t repay evil with evil. You don’t live driven by fear.
“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10 NLT).
Strength doesn’t come from trying harder. It comes from staying close. From abiding. From trusting that the One leading you through the battlefield has already secured the victory.
The goal isn’t to escape the fight. The goal is to remain faithful inside it. To model the Kingdom you belong to while the war is still raging.
So today, don’t rush ahead. Don’t drift behind. Stay close. Listen. Follow. Let your life declare who your King is.
Conquer what’s killing you.
Rise to what matters.
