Time Is the One Thing You’ll Never Get Back

We talk about time like we own it.

We say things like “I don’t have time” or “I’ll do it when I have more time.”

But here’s the uncomfortable truth: you don’t have time; you’re spending it every second.

You woke up this morning with 86,400 seconds in your account. By the time you finish reading this, you’ll have spent a few hundred of them — gone forever. You can make more money, rebuild a business, even repair relationships, but time? Once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Most of us live as if time is renewable. We fill our days with noise, errands, scrolling, and plans for “someday.” But someday is a myth. The clock never stops ticking toward the end of your story, and none of us know how many chapters are left.

That’s not meant to be depressing; it’s meant to wake you up.

Because when you understand how short life really is, it changes how you live:

  • You start saying “yes” to moments that matter and “no” to the ones that don’t.

  • You hug longer.

  • You forgive faster.

  • You stop waiting for the “right time” to chase what sets your soul on fire.

Time doesn’t ask for permission to pass.

The question is: are you moving with purpose, or just moving?

One day, your clock will stop.

And when it does, the only thing that will matter is what you did with the time you had.

So make it count.

Today.

Now.
